Our theme this year is Hakili, which means literally “Good Spirit”. It invites you to live your life with a good spirit and to put good energy into the world. We love the good energy that our music gives to our audiences. The concert will open with a performance of the West African song “Hakili” which will include an opportunity for the audience to sing with us!
According to djembfola (master drummer) Babara Bangoura, the song “Hakili” originated first with women who created the song, melody, and rhythms. The drumming was added and the song has been handed down.

The event includes our traditional silent auction beginning at 5:30 pm and will offer unique gifts, food, collectibles, event tickets, services, and activities. There’s something for everyone! This is our biggest fundraiser and proceeds from the auction support our operations including community outreach, health programs, and scholarships. This year we will also be offering music during the silent auction with guest performances featuring native flutes, Tongue Drums & Adenkum songs.
This year you have TWO chances to bid! In addition to the traditional silent auction, we are hosting an online silent auction where select items are available and up for bid now through Thurs, Nov 10th. Visit the auction by clicking below to see all of the items that will be available and to place your bid! Your support is deeply appreciated!
