Join us for a frame drumming workshop!
Brenda Bush will share what she has learned about the traditions and stories that surround Anishinaabe songs and instruments. Participants will learn and sing songs composed for us to enjoy. Bring your frame drum if you have one, if not, we have drums you can use.
Open to all gender identities, 16+.

Brenda Bush
About the Instructor: Brenda Bush is a K-5 Music Specialist in District 196. She has been active in music education for over 30 years. Brenda earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal / Choral and Music Education from Alverno College and Master of Arts in Music Education from New York University. She holds Orff-Schulwerk Certification from Eastman School of Music. Brenda completed Kodaly Certification at NYU and continued her studies at the Kodaly Institute of Music, Kecskemet, Hungary. She has been part of World Music Drumming training for many years. Brenda is passionate about singing and can be found digging into the study of traditional musics and world music drumming. Currently, Brenda is a member of UpBEATS, school outreach, and Women Who Groove at the WDC.
Please be prepared to remove your street shoes at the studio. You're welcome to bring slippers or non-street shoes to change into upon arrival. We also have a limited supply of clean socks available to borrow. Our no-street-shoe policy is designed to protect our new floor for posterity.
The WDC is located in the basement of the Dow Building; it is accessed by one flight of stairs.
