For over 10 years, Women's Drum Center has inspired women, girls, and our entire community through percussion workshops at our studio, outreach programs to community centers, and the fabulous drumming energy of our performance ensemble, Drumheart. We've spurred on runners and walkers at events such as Race for the Cure, the Twin Cities AIDS Walk, and Headwaters Walk for Justice.
It is time to support the positive power and energy of the drum.
The mission of the Women’s Drum Center is to provide opportunities for women and girls to learn, teach and play percussion together and to energize the community with our music.
Drumming is universal and the rhythms are within all of us! We hear the rhythm of heartbeat, before we are even born. Drumming offers everyone a “music making” experience, without a requirement for highly specialized skill. Research has demonstrated that drumming provides significant health benefits for body and mind.
The Women’s Drum Center offers:
- Women, girls and families a chance to connect through rhythms and music and feel the drum’s magical influence.
- Women and girls a strong organization to learn, lead, teach, and discover new skills and talents while learning more about themselves.
The Women’s Drum Center is celebrating 25 years of drumming classes, concerts and events. These opportunities have empowered and inspired us to move forward with programming that will contribute to the sustainability of our center. Our goal is to continue to provide girls and women of every age more opportunities to explore how drums and music may benefit them today and for the rest of their lives. In 2014 there have been 576 participants at the center, 1200 people served by outreach programs and 30 performances at which drummers provided energetic support of fund-raising and community building events.
The Women’s Drum Center operates year around; participant and program fees cover much of our direct expenses but there are indirect expenditures that require added financial support. Each year we have a goal to raise an added $5000 to help offset operating costs, keep program and class fees affordable and provide good resources for our teachers and services.
Please consider supporting our mission of sharing the joyful, magical and powerful art of drumming. Your donation will be tax-deductible and will keep the love of drumming and percussion available and waiting for women and girls and their families.
You can donate by mail, or via our donate page.

PASS THE WORD - Advertisements, flyers, and other ways of advertisement are rarely the ultimate motivators. It is usually people like you, telling friends about what we do, that bring our students to us. Word of mouth is our greatest friend.
