“Heartbeat of the World” celebrates the simple truth that no matter where you travel on this vast planet – you will find drums. Drumming heals, energizes, relaxes and builds communities.
The concert will once again be presented on the campus of Augsburg College in Sateren Hall. The music begins at 7:00 with guest artist Karin Rau performing music on the gyil – the west African Marimba. Taikollaborative will add their high energy taiko performance to the evening and drumheart, the performance ensemble of the Women's drum Center will be featured. Additional groups include the djoyful djunns, grooveHeart, the West African ensemble and Women Who Groove.
A silent auction will begin at 6:00 and continue until the end of intermission. Featured items will include musical instruments, original artwork, home décor and items just for fun. This fundraiser provides support for the programs that the WDC provides to many groups in the metropolitan area.
